Perfect half term getaway

This was the second time my son, daughter and I visited the hotel. We had fantastic sunny weather and, as last time, a virtually deserted sandy beach 5 mins walk away along the marina as well as the hotel pools. The hotel has a wonderful location in the marina so you can breakfast (and breakfast is very good) with a view over the river to the castle beyond and watch the boats go in and out to sea. Around half a dozen reasonably priced restaurants were open in the marina and along the beach so eating out in the evening was not a problem (the hotel restaurant is more pricey). If it’s a calm day take the dolphin safari trip from marina - we saw loads and the kids loved the high speed trip to find them. Would definitley go back again.

Great Hotel

Smashing hotel. Our 14 night stay co-incided with the hotel hosting a number of yachtsen for the Audi Med-Cup that was taking place in Portimao. Given the crews were out all day, the main Pool was surprisingly not that bust during the days until about 4pm. Sun loungers at the Pool still available at 10am so no mad rush to get to the Pool early. Complimentary Breakfast was great and our yound kids had fun selecting their food. Night time spent in one of the 5 restaurants close to the marina. Thankfully the hotel is some distance (15 mins walk) from the major tourist pedestrian thouroughfare of bars, shops & restaurants. However I’d imagine the hotel would be considered tame for famililies with teenagers; our 2 younger sons were very happy. As parents we were able to relax in knowledge that the kids could stay in the pool safely as the depth was a constant 1.2m so there was no need to check the youngest was wearing armbands or ned to check if he was getting out of his depth.

Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay

The gym is located in the Northern section which is some distance away from the main hotel. The quiet local restaurants are located in the Southern section and the Pool in the central section. Walk from South to North is easily 15 minutes so depending which you want to be close too, request your section before your stay.

not for kids

just returned from a week at the tivoli.went with my partner and our 4 kids,we had a lovely time in a really nice hotel.stunning views of the marina and beyond.hotel has salt water swimming pools which kids disliked but if you go to far end of hotel there is a small but lovely pool which thankfully was free of salt.great beach 2 mins from hotel which was virtually deserted,so had it all to ourselves.our only gripe was that there wasn,t anything for young teenagers to do in the hotel apart from the swimming pool.no kids entertainment of any sort.ideal hotel for adults without kids.

try splash and slide water park,20 mins away on coach.great day out for all the family.avoid the pirate ship to the caves,if you suffer from sea sickness,if you don,t its also a great way to see the coastline of the algarve.enjoy your hols
