Price, Location Trump Customer Service, Maintenance at Hollywood Hills Hotel

We’ve stayed at the BWHH two years in a row. The price is reasonable for Hollywood and the location is outstanding. It’s Cafe 101 is an awesome little nook for good food and the occasional star passing through. (We saw Amanda Seyfried having supper last time we were there.) But the staff of the hotel is barely interested in you. Every single vending machine was out of order one of the days and the staff made us fill out a freaking subpoena to get our $2 back. The water pressure in our room (this year) was practically a trickle and (worse) the staff didn’t rush to send anyone up to look at it or even act slightly apologetic. But again, the the price is very right and the location is central to Hollywood’s good stuff. The room cleaning was perfect. One more thing: if you’re looking for a place with a strong wi-fi signal, this ain’t it.

October is awesome in L.A. it’s not blazing hot (so you can do walking tours in comfort) but not so cool at night that you can’t sit at a sidewalk cafe. You can watch the talk shows live if you go online a few weeks out and get tickets. You can also watch a sitcom being taped, but be ready to sit for 4-5 hours or longer. (Ouch) Definitely use Yelp! to find awesome restaurants and, when in doubt, hit the Farmer’s Market for the best of ANY food type.

Worked for us..

stayed here as the Holiday Inn that we had used earlier in the holiday was full. The holiday inn is in a better location. The walk from Hollywood/Vine to the hotel is not the safest, there were quite a few vagrants and groups of youths hanging around. The hotel though is fine, clean, inexpensive and free parking and free wifi. Probably best to use a cab.

Good Location!

Good location, however you will have a bit of a walk to the main attractions! You will be able to walk it, however it is about a 20 minute walk to Manns Chinese Theatre. The subway is not too far though and it is only one stop to the Chinese Theatre. Very safe and nice. The room is ok, compact and bijou, nothing in the mini bar though. Plenty of parking, however it is a good way from the airport but very near the freeway, but not Highway 1, which is the Ocean route if you are heading to San Francisco! A bit confusing to get there even with sat nav. Hotel is nice, loads of pictures of stars and a nice diner next door for breakfast!

Near the Chinese Theatre, about a 15 minute walk, you are a few blocks down from the main attractions, near Hollywood Boulevard, but down the far end, a bit seedy, but you will get there and it is fine!
