Not as good as last year.

My mom and I thought we would start an annual tradition of visiting Sedona. We stayed at Amara last year and had a wonderful time. This year was a different story. First, they say that there is no more tipping and it is included in your price for the hotel, however we felt the staff were less helpful and friendly than previous. It also appeared to be short-staffed (especially in the restaurant). They no longer have valet, which means you have to lug your bags up and down the hill or stop and park (they used to have valet which was very nice). There is a cart that will take you to your car, but plan on waiting a bit if you use that option. Calling desk for things missing from room was a mess. Either no response or didn’t act on request. Restaurant service poor.

one issue

Our only issue with this hotel was the location of our room. We were immediately adjacent to the dining patio which had a firepit enjoyed until late into the evening. The first night we were there, the noise level was sufficiently high to prevent us from sleeping. Unfortunately, they were full and could not relocate us.

Slightly Dissapointed

The rooms are really small, so if you have children there is not enough room for them to move around. We did not know that the dining is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. This should have been pointed out when we reserved the room. There is limited parking space for your vehicle.
