nothing special

I chose the Jurys Inn because of its convenient location, within walking distance to the station and the shopping area. This aspect was good. I asked for a non smoking room, but the room smelled stale as though it had been smoked in. It overlooked the rail tracks, however I was not disturbed by noise. Beds and bathroom were adequate and clean. There is no room service, which I found annoying. You can order a food tray, but you have to go downstairs to pick it up yourself from the bar. The most annoying thing was the fact that the restaurant is meant to be open till after 10 pm, but when I ventured downstairs at 9.30 on a Saturday evening the lights were off and the manager emphatically looked at his watch, as though he had never encountered anyone wanting to dine after 8 pm.....I felt like I was a million miles away from London!! One of the reasons why I chose a hotel with a restaurant on site is that as a solo woman traveller you don’t always want to venture out at night by yourself in an unfamiliar city. The Jurys Inn failed to impress, especially considering the rates. However, if you are not concerned about dining and room service, it is worth considering in view of its location. Only 15 min walk to the conference centre.

Great location

We were only in Glasgow for one night and the hotel was easy to find and in a great location, within walking distance from everything we needed. We didn’t eat at the restaurant so can’t comment on that. The room was very bright and clean. The reception staff were helpful. The only complaint I have is that the bed was quite small. I would definitely stay here again.
