King of the Hill!

The hotel itself was great, with a lovely grand entrance lobby. However, whilst the rooms were good and very clean etc I can understand world travellers (or even those who have done 5 star in say, Venice, being a little disappointed with the rating here. It did lack the room amenities associated with a 5 star hotel. However, should it be regraded as a good 4 star then i’m sure it would be a different story. However, breakfast was plentiful (despite having read some earlier reviews) and fresh with a wide variety. All the staff in the hotel were great and very friendly. The location of the hotel was brilliant- 1/2 way up a hill in the centre of sant’Angnello. Unfortunately, after taking an airport bus to the town (easy but beware the bus does get full at the airport) we couldn’t find directions and took a taxi which cost 15 euros for a 2 minute journey!!! so get of the bus, cross the road, continue walking in the same direction (narrow pavement in places) until the church. Turn up by the church (cobbled road leading into road up the hill) and voila! an 8 minute walk to the hotel. The hotel bus into and from sorrento was punctual, and public transport (the train station was in the town) to all the sites - herculaneum, pompeii and vesuvius was cheap, quick and easy, saving a shedload of money on trips. The train into sorrento was the same and it was easy to take a bus directly from outside sorrento train station to the amalfi coast! Wonderful place, wonderful hotel!

Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Walk down the hill from the hotel and take the train!

A very comfortable hotel - recommended

The five star Hotel is very good, staff are excellent, evening meals (half board package) were good, but there was no specific children’s menu. Location was a little out of Sorrento, no problem for us as we had a hire car

Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Hire car was very useful for travelling around area

More like a three star not five

Although the pictures and lobby look nice, the rooms and baths need renovations. The beds are like sleeping on plywood. Not comfortable. Location is too far from Sorrento 1/2 hour walk. Stay in Sorrento there are not enough shuttles offered. The only saving grace was the local festa the week we stayed. Front desk staff are helpful some of the breakfast waiters were rude and did not practice hygience. I lost my appetite when one tall waiter with glasses sneezed on his hand and proceeded to serve a guest coffee. there are better options

Traveller's tip on recreational activities

Taxi cost 20 euro to Sorrento. Day trips to Capri and Positano are a must.
