Worst stay of my life
First of all, it is misguiding to the customers to claim that the Aparthotel Sofia/Mythos Beach Hotel is in Rethymnon, Crete. The hotel is actually located in an entirely different town called Bali in Crete that is 25 kms from Rethymnon. And, the only mode of convenient transportation from the hotel to the town of Rethymnon is a cab (taxi), the trip costs Euro 30 at least. An alternative mode of transportation that was suggested by the hotel staff was the State Highway bus, the stop for which is a good one hour (4 kms) walk from the hotel. More importantly, the hotel does not qualify to be listed as a two star hotel on the expedia internet site. The rooms do not have the basic amenities such as a television, intercom, airconditioning or simple ventilation. The room and bathroom are cramped and poorly maintained. In short, I could barely stay the night that I arrived at the Aparthotel Sofia/Mythos Beach (I arrived at the hotel at 11:30 pm and did not have many options but to stay the night)and was desperately looking for an alternate accomodation in the town of Rethymnon the next morning. My ordeal with this hotel had a happy ending the next morning, as I moved into one of the several good standard hotels and apartments that are easily available in the town of Rethymnon, Crete at much lesser tarriffs with all the standard amenities that I would expect from a hotel listed in Expedia and did not get at the Aparthotel Sofia/Mythos Beach hotel at Bali (25 kms from Rethymnon).
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
The hotel is a shack considering the tariff that they charge the customers in the small town of Bali. It is avoidable, unless you have work in the town of Bali in Crete.
