it’s all uphill to La Rosa dei Venta
nice place, but difficult to find as not signed from main road (as other hotels are) Look for the sign to Eden Hotel. long way from train station (now in east of town, but we asked, and were given, a lift back to the station when we left

Not impressed
The Hotel although advertised as in the ’ City Centre’ is a long way away and if attempting to walk on the initial journey from the railway station .. do not bother as you will get lost and is up a steep hill! Thanks go to the station staff and also the taxi driver from me for their directions. This was my third visit to San Remo and the first one since the railway station moved away from the sea shore. It is now located inside a tunnel and well away from the centre. I regard that as a shame and not good when we should be encouraging public transport trave. Inded the old station area is an open air car park. Shameful! Regarding the hotel room, the bed was comfortable and the room pleasant but the balcony doors did not lock and the safe was difficult to operate. The breakfast service was appalling with staff walking around like zombies and totally uninterested in their customers or anything remotely called customer service. The swimming pool area was pleasant but access & use unsuitable for young children. The room was kept well clean and my only praise goes to the cleaners. The Reception lacked information on San Remo and there was no interest shown in providing maps and all information was focused on Monaco, approx 35 miles away....... not even on Italy! I won’t be returning.....
Get away from the Hotel and enjoy the city bars and restaurants in the back streets away from the cars. The local residents are very friendly and eager to help. Try to speak a little Italian and they will go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable!
