Nice ’n clean

The hotel was very clean, 24 hour desk with English speakers. Easy to travel round as the U7 is close by and buses outside the door to Checkpoint Charlie. We found a lovely German restaurant just around the corner, and 24 hour supermarkets close by. A bit out of the way from the centre, but if you buy the Berlin Card at the airport, you can use it on all public transport. An ABC area card will allow a trip to Oranienberg and the Sachsenhausen concentration camp which is definitely worth a visit. But wrap up warmly!

A must use hotel

Right on the Ku’damm - our 5th visit now. Staff are always friendly, outstanding buffett and clean, warm comfortable rooms to come back to after a busy day.

A little Bavarian restuarant about 500m from the hotel on Neostrss. very cheap, half a litre of house red for 9euro. Massive portions and reasonable prices. Try Le Piazza in Savignyplatz for excellent, reasonable food - wide menu available including the not to be missed ’Biftek’ minced steak, stuffed with feta cheese - makes a beefburger look positevely pathetic. Go to the tourist information and buy a 7 day ABC transport ticket around 35 euros and all transport for the week covered including out to Wansee and Potsdamm. The museum tickets are also excellent value - a must see is the Deutsch Technik Musuem - be prepared for a full day visit, trains, plains, boats, instruments, computers, media etc.

Where’s the ’fridge?

Having stayed at the hotel a couple of years ago, I was really looking forward to my 2nd stay. The only disappointment was that not all rooms now include a mini bar. Not that I wanted the contents but the use of the ’fridge is useful for storing cold drinks, especially as the weather was very hot. It seems like a minor saving for the hotel but gives a bad impression.
