Extremely dirty & lack of comfort
Pro’s: -Close to the beach. Opportunitty areas’s: - Dirty, parking lot, entrance, pool, rooms, restrooms, etc. They haven’t done any maintenance on the last 5 or 6 years. - Lobby people is rude & not organized, spent 1 hr for checking in. They had only one extremely slow computer on a desk where 4 or 5 could have been installed. - Room, we found one spider at the room. The thing is that it had a nest that has been there for a while. - Beds are not comfortable, pillows & towels must be replaced long time ago. - Driving, for some reason there were a lot of cows moving around the entrance & the road as well as leaving organic residues all arund. Be careful at nigth since they spent some time on the access road.

Deferred Maintenance
While this may have been a glorious hotel in its hayday as a club med facility, don’t let the pictures be your guide. A long time of little or no maintenance has taken its toll. The rooms at today’s standards are spartanic. However, it is the only hotel we found that is pet friendly in this area. The staff is doing its best with what they have to work with. The beaches and the scenery adjoining are nothing short of spectacular.

Needs improvement
We chose this hotel because it was in the middle of the price range for all San Carlos Hotels. We should have been concerned when there were no photos of the rooms online prior to booking reservation. The grounds are beutiful, lush, with lagoon and beaches, we were excited. We got to our first room and were greeted by a puddle of water in front of it, that never evaporated. It was musty and mildew-y and we had diffibulty breathing (as we have asthma). There was no phone, no alram clock and no heat. Staff were very willing to move us to another room on the second floor, that was in the same condition. We were glad we only reserved one night’s stay, as the amoutn charged was too muco for the quality of this room. We were more than ready to check-out at daylight. The hotel is under construction and things may improve later, but not right now (11/08). FYI-we had a "lagoon-facing" room. The grounds are very nice and have a lot of acitivities, but be aware that they routinely have multiple weddings on the weekends and they may go late into the night.
