Great location for getting around

We were at first a little worried that our hotel would be too deep in the historic area (read: small alleys, lots of crime) but were very pleasantly surprised by the quaint rooms and friendly service. The bathrooms and rooms in general are small, but for the money, a great value. We were able to walk around the historic district, to the train station, to the water, and when adventurous, the archaeological museum. The staff was fantastic--warm, helpful, and honest about good places to eat or relax. We would most definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay in a clean, safe hotel with a competent English-speaking staff for a great price.

Small room, good location for travelers using train system

Close to train station, friendly staff, good breakfast for the money. We were lucky and had a room with a window overlooking main shopping area. Good value for the money, but don’t expect large rooms or exciting walks after dark. After 8:30pm shop owners pulled down their security front gates and we stayed in our room watching the locals maneuver on their mopeds with no rules and lots of guts. We had a great time, but was always mindful of the hotel’s location.

Hotel with character in Naples

Friendly caring staff, very forthcoming with information about Naples (warts and all). Only one gentleman, who happened to be on reception when we checked in, had a problem with smiling, but he turned out to be fine in the end. If you have trouble sleeping I would advise you to go for a room that DOESN’T ovelook the square, where a bunch of youths hang out night after night talking loudly until 2 am (Friday night was an exception, probably because they went clubbing instead). Sadly these are the rooms with the best views (conventionally speaking). Alternative views are of narrow Neapolitan street, complete with laundry. I enjoyed sharing breakfast around the table with other guests, although I appreciate that this may be offputting for the more reserved. Well situatated, and for those who like walking, a great point from which to start exploring the city on foot.

Don’t do it. Being near the station the restaurants tend to be touristy and not particulary good. Two exceptions to this are two famous pizzerias, (ask in reception for directions) both of which are frequented by locals. The receptionists weren’t very good at suggesting alternative locations to dine, but we ate well in Ghiaia and Vomero (upmarket and relatively safe areas of Naples) and Pozzuoli - Sofia Loren’s birth place (travelled by bus then train).
