Blackpool Chic - A real change to the ordinary
We wanted to avoid staying at the usual chain hotels or the small style hotel/B&B. We chose The Big Blue as it looked different, seemed to have an air of quality about it and it was far enough away from from the town centre to avoid the stag and hen parties which make Blackpool their home. We arrived at 8.45pm during the Illuminations and due to demand found that our delux room had been upgraded to a penthouse suite, good news. The room was first class with separate lounge, bedroom, toilet and bathroom. The furnishings were modern and of good quality with a comfy bed , large in size, with lovely pillows and duvet. The room temperature controls were welcome, providing a welcome cool air with little AC noise. Nice fixtures such as flat screen LCD TVs and great coffee and espresso makers were welcomed, shame it was to warm to light the fire and rest a while on the spacious couch. Only grumble was that the room smelt of smoke and as we were eating at 9.30 the choice was limited, but not a major problem. The staff were always very friendly, a pleasant change from many hotels. Self service breakfast was included in the price and was excellent with everyhting you could wish for. Our daughter is at university locally so we will be returning and the Big Blue will be our choice of hotel every time.
