Well Situated
The hotel Monte Tauro is in an excellent position close to plenty of restaurants and bars, every room has a sea view. The swimming pool was always clean and we were always able to get a sunbed at any time of the day. Breakfast was plentiful with a wide choice, we ate dinner in the restaurant on one occasion, the service and food were good.I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.
I would not recommend this hotel or resort for families with young children due to the steps and steep hills.

Outstanding views
Lovely hotel, built on the side of a cliff. All rooms have wonderful views over the bay and you can see Mount Etna from the pool. I’d suggest giving the restaurant a miss - plenty of other options a short wlak away

Fantastic location, poor rooms
The location is what really makes this hotel - it is a very short walk from the shops and restaurants, although you do have to walk up and down a VERY steep hill to get to them. We booked a superior room - although if what we got was superior I wouldn’t like to have seen a standard room. The first room we were given had no bath, only a shower. We then got moved to a room with a bath. The drains stunk especially first thing in the morning. Only received 2 poor quality bath towels a day and had to ask for more. Balcony poor. Air conditioning absolutely not up to the job. We always got a space round the swimming pool - but those who came out later in the day did not always get a space. In summary the hotel was disappointing and did not live up to its description on the website. The only thing that redemed it was the location.
