loved it
Me and my girlfriend spent about 10 days at the resort and we loved every minute. The staff was friendly, speak a decent English, they also recommended us a few excursions and places to go to. The place is a bit far away, but you can always get a taxi at a decent price.We also spent 2 other nights at a different hotel on the island, but it wasn’t anything like Mangosteen.The breakfast was good, loved the mangosteen fresh juice.If you want quality time Mangosteen is a very good choice.

Beautiful Hilltop Views
My husband and I were greeted with a wonderful tropical welcome drink as we were checked into the hotel. Our room had a nice sunrise view over the eastern side of Phuket and Friendship beach. The room was very spacious with an indoor toilet and sink but a private outdoor shower and bathtub spa. It was quite a tropical experience to shower outside. The pool was very nice and large with pathways around the resort. We were able to try out our new dive masks and snorkels the night before our Phi Phi Island snorkel trip in the Mangosteen pool. The hotel breakfast was excellent. This hotel is definitely isolated so if you want to be close to nightlife this is not the hotel for you. If you want a quiet, romantic and relaxed resort, I strongly recommend the Mangosteen.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
We booked our Phi Phi Island and Phang Na trips with Simba Sea Tours. It was worth the money and the advance reservations to join a much smaller and private charter tour group.

Far and Boring
We went to Phuket in August and stayed at the Mangosteen resort in order to celebrate our 1st year of marriage. The hotel looked impressive while we were making our booking however things turned out to be the opposite in reality. To begin with, the hotel is very far (around 35 minutes driving) from the activity centers of Phuket (such as Patong Beach). This adds an additional cost (around 30-40 USD per trip) to your stay which you could easily use to stay at one of the top resorts that are closer and more reachable. The breakfast was nothing compared to what we had in Bangkok. The hotel is very limited in terms of resources and facilities, they had 1 restaurant and a bar that we’ve never seen open. One final thing is that the hotel is around 20 minutes far from the closest beach and you need to take a drive for that. This hotel is definitely not for those seeking entertainment, day and night activities, and a variety of cuisines. We do not recommend it.
