Definitely Room for Improvement

I was looking forward to this trip to Napa as it was a surprise for my boyfriend’s birthday & I wanted everything to be perfect. We arrived after a gruelling 3hr journey in the heat (long weekend traffic from the Bay Area) and were greeted by a friendly person behind the main desk who offered us a glass of wine at check in. This is possibly the only good thing that happened at this hotel... actually, I take that back. They were also very accomodating with a "juice box" or packed breakfast service for people who were checking out before breakfast (as was our case). Now for the bad part... after checking in, we went to our room which was spacious enough. Note:- I’ve been to France & this is NOT a "French" Country-Inn, or even close to being a replica. But still, the room was clean and there was a fireplace etc. However, things turned sour when I noticed the hot water in the bathroom sink didn’t flow, and the shower had little to no pressue whatsoever! We were only there for one evening, for a special dinner and needed to be out by 5am to go for a hot air balloon ride over the valley. So a shower was exactly what I needed, after a HOT drive and before heading to a fancy restaurant for our special dinner. After speaking to the lady at the front desk, we discovered the water heater was being replaced and they didn’t have an ETA on when it would be complete (we arrived at 5.30pm and no one told us about this until we called at 7.30pm). We had dinner reservations for 8pm so there was NO way I could wait to see when the water would come back on!? So had to just wash my face with the trickling cold water and make the best of a bad situation. Needless to say I was FUMING and it wasn’t the best start to the beautiful evening I had planned :( I recommend staying here only if you’re willing to pay a ridiculous amount for the nightly stay & don’t care about the service. FYI:- When we called Front Desk to complain and see what could be done, they said there’s nothing they could do and dropped off the Manager’s business card for us to contact them the following day (which by the way we did and were greeted by a voicemail & no one has returned our call as yet). Will update this review if/when I hear back from the Management. Till then - this hotel SUX!
