Right on the mark
Parking is about 400m up the street, which worked out fine for us. Great location, great rooms, helpful English-speaking staff. Had trouble with wireless internet connection.

Great location, but has some flaws.
I chose the Hotel Stein in Salzberg for it’s location, on the river, just across from the old town. And, the location is superb. A two minute walk across the bridge and you are in the middle of the old town, and don’t have to fight the crowds and difficulty getting to and from the hotel by taxi, etc. Our room was a suite fronting on the river with outstanding views of the old town and fortress. The hotel does have some issues, including small elevators, a pretty lackluster lobby, and spotty breakfast service. But, the location is such a plus, I’m still satisfied with the stay.

2nd Visit and still impressed
The Hotel Stein has the best location in Salzburg with the only roof-terrace bar/cafe if you want to be close not only to the many sights to visit but also to the great selection of bars and restaurants this hotel is the one for you!
