Good deal.
The hotel is old and under renovation, but the room was decent... good hot water. Elevators were fast, restaurant was good... had breakfast and dinner there. The bar was good .. had Guinness draft! ... with quite a number of tvs.... watched MNF there. Good location... one block off Fremont St., but with the renovation parking is limited.... but got a spot in the evening with no problem. Daytime is different with employees, customers, and construction workers. I would go stay there again.
Overall it was great for the price.

Gold Spike comes through again
We just returned from Vegas and had our 4th stay at the Spike. Its really come along over the past 5 years. We had a room that wasnt renovated yet, yet it was still pretty decent, since we spent most of our time at Freemont Street. There were plenty of positives for our stay.1) The price is right 2) The location, 1 block from Freemont 3) The entire staff, including the security guards 4) The restaurant, $4.99 prime rib, The Full House breakfast 5) The renovated casino, bar, and restaurant makes it look quite elequant 6) The potential, the outside is coming along, the pool should be constructed soon, and the addition of more rooms, including the continuation of the renovating of the existing tower will make this a reasonable and fun place to stay in the future.
Fitzgeralds has an excellent Salad and Pasta Bar. Visit Zion National Park, which is about a 2 hour drive, well worth it.

Needs work
Old, run down hotel in the aging downtown district. Under construction, maybe can be rehabilitated. The room was clean however and the price was right for my one night stay.
