Pleasant hotel
Overall a pleasant hotel, retaining some classic features however in need of some modernisation in the rooms (e.g. better TV with option of films). We planned a few days in Gilbraltar and a few days exploring the local area of Spain so location was fine. The service was good, room kept clean and the staff helpful. The food was fine both for breakfast and evening buffet.
If driving to Gilbraltar and planning to see the Rock, park at the base of the cable car as its free.

Beautiful grounds! Great buffet!
The grounds are lush and beautiful and the rooms are clean and appointed with antique furniture. During a 3 week trip through Spain, this was the only hotel where we found the front desk staff to be curt and unhelpful, however. The concierge would not help us locate a restaurant or answer questions about our morning ferry. We enjoyed a delicious dinner buffet on the patio overlooking the gardens which was reasonably priced and our included breakfast was great.

A great stay on the way to Tangier
The hotel was beautiful and exceeded my expectations in terms of what I got for my money. Ferry port was only a few minutes’ walk away, and our room was larger than any other I’ve seen, and quite nice. However, front desk staff were not very friendly and were unable to answer questions we had about transportation out of Algeciras by train and ferry. Overall, our stay here was pleasant and provided a comfortable, quiet stay before our trip to morocco.
