The gem
In our trip we stayed in Milan, Florence and in two different hotels in Venice. This one was absolutely the best.

Clean, Convenient and Courteous
Our stay at Porta Faenza was one of the highlights of our trip to Italy. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and very comfortable. One word of advice: request a room away from the street if you want absolute quiet, otherwise you will get a bit of traffic noise. The breakfast, which is included, was the best we had during our whole stay in Italy.

Excellent Lodging
The bed was the typical hard European bed. After a night or two we were used to it and slept quite comfortably. The room was large enough and the hotel met all of our needs. It seemed noisy during the day, but at night there was dead silence- even though we were just 3 blocks from the train station. Nice antiques in the common areas. Breakfast- a good variety. Staff were polite and helpful. Location was easy walking distance the Duomo, Santa Maria Novella, the Academia, Ufizzi, etc. Tratorria Enzo and Perio!!! Go out of the hotel, make a right and it is the first restaurant you come to. It is family owned since 1931 and the best food we had in Italy. Very fresh and traditional. The staff were gracious and accomodating. In addition to Italian they spoke English, Spanish, French and German. They are closed on Sundays. They are open for lunch and then close until 7:00pm when they reopen for dinner. We booked a cookking class at "In Tavola" cooking school through Expedia. We had a great fun and met other passionate foodies. Would highly recommend you book this one. The tour of Sienna and San Gimignano and the Chianti Wine and Dinner tour were good also. (booked through expedia). Be sure to do the Hop On Hop Off bus to get a great over of the city.
We went Oct 19th-Oct 29th. We had rain and cool weather the first two days. After that it was sunny and in the 70s. venice had more rain than Florence and the San Marco area was under water.
