Traveller's tip on local attractions
Take a taxi to Sintra for 15 euros and spend the day in the area, have lunch at Cafe Paris and then take the bus up to the Pena Palace just for the views at the top. Avoid the tours from the hotels as they are 5 times the price and they will limit your freedom to explore.

Fantastic hotel, fabulous service
You will not be disappointed with this hotel, Hotel Palacio is a shining example of professionalism and the highest standards of customer service, rarely seen in Europe. The hotel itself is beautifully maintained, the pool is huge and it is easy to while away many a lazy afternoon sitting by its edge sipping a cool glass of the local rose and reading a book. I will definitely be going back.
Traveller's tip
Fab choice for a quiet, old fashioned beach holiday in a stylish and friendly resort.

Disappointing
Prospective travellers should be aware that this hotel is building apartments and all rooms to the front/right hand side of the hotel overlook this building site. This is not detailed on their website. We booked a double room but were given a twin which they changed immediately. However, a couple of hours later when I requested a room not overlooking the building site, I was told the hotel was fully booked and this was not possible. The rooms are quite small (which is understandable for an old hotel). The pool areas and gardens are wonderful
