Worst hotel ever
The hotel itself is very nice, the rooms are of a good size, clean and have pretty much what you would expect from any 3star hotel. The gym although fairly limited is also fine. The staff however were rude, unhelpful and completly ruined the stay. I walked into the restaurant at seven thirty asking for a table to which I was told, no chance the kitchen is completly closed to anyone that hasnt booked in advance even though the receptionist told me I could just turn up. The icing on the cake was in the morning, I went to check out to which I was told we dont do receipts
Stay well clear.

You get what you pay for
First off, its really hard to find. We booked tickets at the Swallow Carlisle from Scotland, and used our satnav to find the hotel. It was nearly impossible to find using the satnav, so god knows how people would manage without. Anyone planning to stay here - the entrance to the hotel is on the road opposite the B & Q department store. Its approx 5-10 minute drive from the centre of town. The rooms were serviceable at best, faded and old, poor appearance of the hotel internally (damaged walls, crumbling plaster, mildew). There is a decent sized health club which we didnt make use of. Breakfast was generous although limited in selection, and included in the room rate. Other facilities included Cloud wireless connection (pay-per-use). Very basic room facilities - 14" TV, the normal kettle and tea selection. Overall would recommend staying elsewhere.
Eat in town, there are a decent array of restaurants, pubs and so on.

tired and shabby
A classic example of a tired and shabby hotel. Old carpets and a feeling of decay. Probably was quite chic in 1972. Thought I was in an episode of Doctor Who and transported back in time.Couldnt have a newspaper in the morning as the hotel is in administration. Thank god it was only one night.
