Alone at Alvik
Nice modern hotel in quiet location but convenient to mass transit with excellent connections to downtown. Next to excellent sports facility. Only downside is crowded breakfast buffet when hotel fully booked. Otherwise no complaints.
Scandic has family-friendly hotels.

Hotel staff were energetic and helpful. The rooms & breakfast were fantastic. Location was perfect only 100m from the subway 10 min ride to Stokholm Central. The area was very quite and peaceful with excellent walking trails around a large lake. Local restraunts were near by although we never took advatage of them. Lee

Excellent, convenient and (by Stockholm standards) good value hotel
I stayed for 7 nights and found this to be an excellent hotel, conveniently situated only a few hundred yards from the underground / tram station at Alvik with trains every few minutes taking less than 20 minutes to the centre of Stockholm. The room was somewhat sparsely furnished in a minimalist style but was in excellent condition in terms of both maintenance and cleanliness. The buffet breakfasts were also excellent - typical scandinavian style with cerials, boiled eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, cheese, bread (many types), jam, tea, coffee, juices. Yes (to counter a very few reviews here) if you turn up 5 minutes before the buffet ends there was sometimes a slightly smaller selection of some items, but there was still plenty of choice. I am unlikely to return to Stockholm just because there is so much of the rest of the world I still have to see, but if I did I would definitely stay here again.
