Few Drawbacks
Our main drawback was that the cheaper rooms overlook a slightly noisy road. We are super-sensitive to noise as we live in the English countryside. A change to the fifth floor mainly cured the problem. Otherwise we were very happy and would go back again. Breakfast was a little cold one morning... er, can’t think of anything else! Beers were expensive but then they were everywhere. Staff helpful and friendly. Internet didn’t work in the room but it did in reception and by the pool. 20m walk into town, partly very tranquil. Lovely weather in Novemberg. What more could you want?
It’s very hard to know if some people are helping you or hindering you! Sometimes people are very helpful but there are several scams, like ’I recognise you from my hotel. I take you to my brother’s shop.’ ’Which hotel?’ usually cures this problem. ’You want to go to Grand Place (Jemaa El Fna)? I show you the way.’ Asks for money before you see the Place and then directs you in wrong direction. If you want spices, leather goods, shoes etc, price them before you go and have a clear idea how much you want to pay - and pay it! Restaurants quite hard to identify from the street; plan in advance from your hotel via the concierge. Streets sometimes much smaller than they appear on the guide map; beware!
