Under Renovation?

As of late June 2009 the hotel was going through a renovation period. One of the 2 elevators was not working (one elevator goes to odd floors, the other to even floors). Room was recently redone and was in very good shape. The lock on the door was not hotel quality or strength. There was no coffee maker hospitality setup in the room, and no wifi, not even for an extra charge. Two funny signs in English: one announcing the "Dinning" room; the other by the pool. In Hebrew it said "Caution Wet" but in English was the one word "BYCARFUL". Wish I took a picture of that one. Once all the renovations are finished, it should be fanatastic; even now it is a great bargain. But come by car (parking seemed ample) - because you are a bit of the way away from the center of town and the promenade.

Good budget hotel

This hotel was a good value. The staff was friendly and informative. Our room was recently remodeled, clean and basic. It was easy to find free parking near the hotel. The breakfast was ample and very good quality. The hotel pool was not very big (about 35- or 40-foot length) but was clean and the deck area afforded a fine view of the Kinneret. The hotel is located about one mile up a steep hill from the waterfront/downtown area. If you don’t have a car, you could take a bus or taxi to the hotel. For dinner, we walked down to the waterfront and back but you may want to take a cab at least one way. The hotel is situated just a half mile from the tomb of Maimonides (about half-way down the hill to the waterfront). Having read some poor reviews of this hotel posted online several months ago, I was somewhat concerned about what we would find. We had a good experience.

Doesn’t Meet American Standards

The hotel was nice and quaint, but it wasn’t great. There was a parking lot with 5 spots for the entire hotel and there was no luggage cart. That made moving in and out of the hotel very difficult. The room was very nice, but it was tiny. It had a bed and a chair, but couldn’t accomodate any more furniture. There was no remote for the TV. Even though it had cable, there were about 5 channels to watch. The bathroom was just redone and beautiful, but small and did not have a tub, just a shower. There was construction going on which put one of the elevators out of order when we were moving in and was a general inconvenience (noisy). On the plus side, the staff was nice and helpful, the breakfast was lovely - Israeli style, with lots of salads, etc. Overall, it wasn’t a bad experience, but for people travelling with children and lots of luggage, this place is not ideal.
