A luxury last night in India
India has many hotels, the majority indifferent. The Trident, Chennai compensated by its sheer luxury. All right, it does not reflect the true India but it had everything we needed and more besides. A warm welcome at the airport, a friendly welcome in the hotel, a sumpteous room, and a restaurant willing to serve delicious South Indian food at 10.15pm.It was a pity we could not stay to enjoy the pool, spa and more food but home awaited us. Breakfast was excellent and the fruit juice did not contain extra sugar.! We shall stay again .And not too expensive for what it delivered.
If arriving in Chennai by air, internal or international, do take advantage of the complimentary car to meet you. White suited and capped friendly staff and a decent car. Just don’t linger too long in Chennai. It tends to be chaotic with little to see of genuine interest except genuine people.

good for airport
Hi. This is a reasonable hotel which is very well situated on the main road (busy) for the airport. It takes up to an hour to get to the centre of town / Marina Beach. Take a tuk tuk from outside the main gates to save on paying too much.
There is not much nearby - the buffet in the hotel is not bad if not a little over charged.

Convenient for airport
we stayed at the hotel one night prior to our departure from Chennai and deceided to stay on the executive floor which was very good. check in is fast and efficient since that is done on the executive floor level. the restaurant was also good and had been completely renovated since the last time i stayed, the food was good and the service quite efficient. The only poor point was the checkout...we checked out at 1:30am and that is handled by the lobby desk, the finalization of the bill took a long time and frustrating to wait while the night clerk made the bill out. the driver service to the nearly airport was excellent.
A great place to start or end your travel to chennai..the hotel is situated too far for the traveller who wants to just visit the city since the traffic is always congested.
