Professional Staff

Staff was very friendly. They even took my husband out to see the Greek Temples nearby since we came by train. Great service.

Lovely hotel, car necessary

Paestum does not have taxi service, and the hotel is located more than a mile from the station and the ruins. A lovely place to stay if you arrive by car---the pool is a delight, the restaurant quite good. The beach is a brief walk from the front of the hotel---passably nice, padded chairs with umbrellas are pleasant. A little glitzy for such a sleepy town but very comfortable and well maintained.

Traveller's tip on local attractions

To visit the temples and small museum at the site requires a leisurely paced day at most and can be done in a half-day. The town is small, but very friendly, and the local train is prone to delays.

Lovely Hotel

Beautiful top class hotel, great pool & grounds but very quiet. It has huge public areas and only 42 rooms so it sometimes seems quite empty & lacking a bit of atmosphere. The staff were friendly & efficient, very well run. Lots of big weddings use the hotel (5 in the week we were there) but they never impinge on the holiday guests, except to make you feel a bit scruffy on your way back fom the pool when they are all evening dress! Restaurant was expensive, not much else in walking distance so a car was essential. Roads are very variable in quality, satnav was both a life saver and a disaster! Good for families with young kids, hotel also has a nice beach nearby. No good for singles.

Traveller's tip

Leave plenty of time for HUGE queues at Naples Airport, though they do seem to be expanding it. Drive like an Italian, it is the only way to cope with the unpredictable roads and traffic.
