Great Location

Mariposa is a picturesque town on the way to Yosemite and this is a good place to stay.

Worth the cost

The hotel was what we expected, in line with the cost and class. The restaurang next doors was though a real disappointment.

Great centre for exploring Yosemite and Gold Country

While the Miners Inn is not central to either of the above destinations, it’s position on the edge of town make it easy to get away and visit either venue. That said, there’s a lot more to Mariposa than meets the eye if you can give it time. There’s a very good info centre across the road with extremely helpful staff, so make sure you get in there early on your stay. As to the Miners, it’s a very good choice for a brief stopover in the area. The rooms are well appointed, although our wardrobe space was a little limited, and the beds and bathroom facilities were very good. We had fridge with freezer compartment in the room. Outside there’s a good sized pool although it’s proximity to the coach parking area did mean that during our visit there was an occassion when all pool users were treated to 20 minutes carbon monoxide fumes from an inconsiderate driver. I did bring this to the attention of the management and hope that they have addressed it. The complimentary breakfast was good and there is a bar and restaurant on site. For a small town, Mariposa has a good range of food outlets, several in easy walking distance (gently uphill on the way back), we would recommend Salvador’s, a Mexican restaurant about half a mile into town. Our only real reservation was that the cleaning was not as good as might have been hoped as there was dust around edges and behind doors and previous occupants belongings were under the bed - nothing hazardous I should add!
