Could be better
Staff excellent, very friendly. No ice, no wash cloths, no morning coffee. 3 floors, no elevator, safe box in room, $1 day fee. Good location, beach club discount, free beach towels. Nice pool, very quiet.
Traveller's tip on dining
Restaurant 10, a block away on 5th Av & calle 30, try the New York steak. Mamitas Beach Club for shrimp cocktails, Vagabundos on 5th between calle 24 & 26, for breakfast. Good money exchange at av.10 and calle 20n.near corner, bit hard to find, sign outside.

Nice Hotel
It was a nice hotel, affordable and convenient to everything. 2 or 3 blocks from the beach and 1 block from the main strip. I would definitely stay here again.
Traveller's tip on dining
Pickup pesos and do not create seperate checks if with a large group they will try to scam you. La Parrilla was the worst at this.

Excellent Customer Service
I recently stayed at the Hotel Riviera Caribe Maya and I have to say that the customer service was excellent. Unfortunately, on my 2nd night there, the shower ran out of hot water and so they had to move the guests to different rooms. I was upgraded to a suite which was fantastic. The staff was extremely helpful in moving our luggage and they were extremely apologetic. I was in a rush that morning to go scuba diving and so one of the staff members actually gace me a ride in their car instead of making me take a taxi. All of the staff was extremely friendly, especially Carlos and Lucay (don’t know if the spelling is correct). I plan on returning to Playa Del Carmen soon. It is a beautiful place. I will definitely stay at this hotel again.
Traveller's tip on recreational activities
Playa Scuba on Avenida 15 and Calle 4 is a great dive shop. Luis and Klaus are fun guys and very attentive to diver safety. Highly recommended.
