Close to Aya Sofya and Blue Mosque

Wonderful as regards the position, being very close to Aya Sofya, the Blue Mosque, Topkapi. Restaurants, shops and a small bazar are all around. Service is good, personnel is kind and helpful, rooms are clean, bathrooms are quite big (compared to other hotels I stayed in Istanbul), pieces of furniture are simple but they work well. In general, I’m satisfied. I would point out only one aspect: noise. In fact, my room was at ground level and till very late I heard some few noise of cars and railway, but above all noise of kids playing in the street behind. Maybe I was unlucky, but I think rooms at a higher floor are better from this point of view.

Great hotel close to the major sights

We stayed three days at the Historia and were very satisfied with our stay. While our room was on the small side, this was more than compensated by great service from the staff and an excellent location. The Historia is only two blocks down from the Blue Mosque and all of the major attractions of Istanbul’s Sultanahmet district were within walking distance. When we return to Istanbul in the future, we will be staying at this hotel.

nice hotel in Istanbul historic center, some issues

This is a small hotel in the historic and touristic Sultanahmet area of Istanbul, thus lots of nearby attractions, dining and transportation. We had a sea view room with a balcony, which made it more interesting. Clean, no major complaints. The bathroom was smallish, clean. The shower head barely let the water out, which is kind of lame. You can definitely hear sounds from neighboring rooms and bathrooms. Breakfast selection was not very great, but this is just breakfast. If two persons are staying, make sure the second guest is included in the reservation, since the hotel charges extra for two guests even in a double room.

Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks

Take public transportation to/from the airport instead of taxi. It takes about one hour (including 10 min walk from the hotel to the tram station) and costs about $2 to reach the airport. Taxi would be $25-30 per person.
