Beautiful setting Hotel built into clifface.

This was our 5th visit, for short breaks of 4-5 nights duration. An easy 40 minute drive from Faro Airport along mostly Motorway standard roads. The Hotel gives excellent service in all departments. Carviero town is a downhill walk from the Hotel but Hotel meal rates compete well with town eateries. Two pools and a small beach in a cove reached by steps are clean and well maintained. The Staff cannot do enough to assist and typical of Portugal, everything comes with a smile.

Traveller's tip on shopping

The Algarve produces high quality pottery and ceramics, vases etc which are reasonable compared with buying imported items in the UK. Most reputable dealers offer to ship purchases for reasonable charge.

disappointed

We eventually arrived at the hotel Tivoli,to be told our room would not be ready until 2pm. No problem, went for lunch in the hotel, it cost an arm and a leg! Went back to reception, room still not ready,3.10 we eventually got the key. We were told this room was well worth waiting for. Having stayed here twice before we were really looking forward to it.What a diappointment.Poky room, bed as hard as a rock.Never again.

Traveller's tip on dining

The best restaurants were the Primavera, just a short walk towards the town, opposite the car hire place on the corner. Also,if you walk around that corner, just a little bit further on you will come to some apartments to rent. I think its called Algar.Their poolside bar has lovely food. very reasonable.

Great views - rooms need updating

Arrived 1st week in Sept, still nice and hot. Great view of the cove and sea.. what we came for. Rooms really need updating, but the hotel is in generally very good condition, and relaxed, staff very helpful and friendly. Watch out swmming at the cove, it’s not great for less strong swimmers and the sea comes up very quickly. Rent a car and drive to Alvor the beach is a lot better
