Needs improvement
Train running day and night at the nearby bridge made our sleep terrible.

Great location/good public transportation
CLEAN, great access to public transportation. Go over the walkway (crossing the street) to the dock area..restaurants/bars. Great food & service (fair prices for good quality) at Doce Peixe (seafood). We could not have been more pleased with the value, considering the dollar exchange rate. Good live music (jazz) evenings in the hotel bar area. Ride the funicular to the Institute of Port..taste and compare the different kinds of port at reasonable prices! Many worthwhile museums in the hotel area (carriage museum great) and monuments. Lots of history walking or "tram" area of the hotel. Hotel was recommended to us by a good friend in Lagos (originally from Ireland), and we agree!

Pretty nice place for a decent price
We stayed here for one night, which was our first night in Lisbon after leaving the airport. Its not incredibly close to the airport (about a 15 minute drive IF you know exactly where youre going). If youre renting a car and are totally unfamiliar with Lisbons roads, then you might have a little bit of an adventure finding it, as we did. After finding it we realized it was in a pretty good location because its just a short drive down the waterfront to the city center. Its also very close to the Vaso da Gama Bridge, the longest bridge in Europe which we used the next day to head to the Algarve. Also, most of Lisbons best known Discotecas lie between the hotel and the center (in the Bairro Alto area). Being our first day in a new time zone, we slept through breakfast so cant comment on that. We also didnt get a chance to use the pool, the health club, or a number of other things the hotel had to offer. It was convenient having an ethernet connection in the room, as many hotels we used in Portugal only offered internet in the lobby. Overall, it was a nice, clean place with a lot to offer at a decent price.
Traveller's tip on dining
If you decide to go to a restaurant featuring "Fado" the folk music of Portugal (there are many in and around the city center) make sure you check the prices on the menu before making a reservation. Our dinner for two cost 109 Euros (about $175 U.S. dollars). It was by far our most expensive meal of the trip and certainly not our best. You can find little cafes all over portugal that have amazing food at McDonalds prices.
