Definitely an experience worth repeating
We cannot fault the standard of welcome, service and hospitality at this Agristurismo hotel. A wonderful setting, on the hillside amidst the various fruit trees and overlooking the Bay of Patti, with Italy in the far distanc make this an ideal place for a relaxing stay. The dinners, although a set menu, were an absolute delight and a happy introduction to real Sicilian cooking. Never a dish repeated in a 10 day stay, and the same meals as served to the restaurants guests and the properietors family. It was lovely to see the staff picking herbs and fruit from their own gardens before and even during meals. The hospitality shown by the owners would put many a five star hotel in UK to shame. Nothing was too much trouble and everything done with a smile and sense of humour. If there is no other reason to visit Sicily a visit to the Santa Margherita should be enough to convince you to go there.

Almost perfect in every way!
The Hotel Agriturismo is a fantastic place to stay and we can wait to return! The location of the hotel is excellent with easy access to Patti, Tindari and the not to be missed Eolian Islands. The accomodation, certainly during August, seems to be a bit pot luck. The rooms on the hotel site were full but the owners have agreements with local apartment owners for the overflow. We had a fantastic apartment 1km away complete with roof terrace with stunning views. The restaurant at the hotel is fab, serving the best food that we had during our entire holiday. The antipasti and own produced wine are well worth a stay alone!
You MUST have a car to stay at the hotel, preferably one with sat nav as the location is quite rural. There is nothing locally that you can reach on foot. Dont be afraid of the extremely winding road leading to the hotel... its an experience in itself!

Good Sicily Escape Experience
Agriturismo does not mean a hotel but separate apartments placed in countryside of Sicily hills with lovely view on the sea. If you plan to stay there you MUST have a car, without car you can not go anywhere, if you want to have privacy it is ideal. Even with nav. system and maps you will have difficulties to find it, took us 2,5 hours. Probably dissapointing for young couple who wants to have evening bar drinking in "downtown" while facing problem how to get back to the apartments. Even for breakfast we had to go by car. Pool was great, recommend to try once local food in Agriturismo restaurant (book in advance). Rooms were well maintained and the view on Lipari Island was so refreshing!
Traveller's tip on local attractions
Book a day boat trip to Lipari Island, or evening boat trip to Stromboli. Sicily surprised us with how big it is to go aroung by car. From Messina you can do Taormina and Catania in one day. Palermo was advised from local to visit but reserve one whole day for it/ best are weekend days.
