Paradise Found!!!
If you are looking for an idylic holiday with no stress, fabulous alomost empty beaches, then look no further. This hotel is definitely, location, location, location!!! We stayed in one of the double decker boathouses, but would not do this again. I guess it was the novelty factor really. I think we would have been happier in one of themain hotel rooms. Hotel eating facilities are limited at this time of year, so we tended to use the little restaurant just across the road for dinner and one of the beach cafes for breakfast, all of which was outstanding quality and service. We hired a jeep from the hotel and spent a pleasant day touring the island, which does not take long. Chaweng is only a 10 minute taxi ride 300BHT and has some more adventurours night life. Take a massage from the girls near the pool, its cheap and fantastic!!The downside for us was that we were only there for 3 nights!! We will definitely go back again at this time of year. We arrived on Sunday 7th Oct and left on Wed 10th. Rates are good and weather was also fantastic, it only rained on one night. There was no noise from the construction site next door, but lots of little frogs.
Traveller's tip on dining
Use the restuarant acroos from the main entrance for evening dinner, its fantastic. Breakfast is best had in one of the beach cafes. There are numerous, all of which offer great food and much cheaper than the hotel.

Charming but not worth the price
The hotel is unique and well situated. I stayed in a Boathouse suite closer to the beach than the regular rooms. I ate most of my meals in the hotel restaurants and enjoyed the well prepared though limited lunch and dinner menu. Breakfast and special dinners were excellent. The staff was wonderful - friendly, competent and always available. The biggest problem I had was that the Boathouse suite was somewhat run down and uncomfortable for the amount of money I paid. While everything was clean, there was evident wear on both the structure and furniture. Though the bed matress was new and very hard, the couch and chairs were sagged out and there was an actual 1/4 gap in the wall beneath the stairway that allowed mosquitos to enter. The gap opened as a result of the structure settling unevenly over the years. The excellent staff compensated somewhat for the Boathouse suite deficiencies, but I still feel the room was not worth the price.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
The weekly buffet barbecue meal is probably one of the best meals on the island.
