Bedbugs

Some of the staff were very helpful. I was bitten by something for two nights. The hotel did change my room immediately when I complained. Their breakfast was about $20. and coffee alone for breakfast was about $7.75 but I used the kitchen in the room instead to make breakfast. It was convenient to have a kitchen and a fridge with a freezer section.

Great flea market

Good location, but a bit shabby these days

I’ve stayed in this hotel many times over the years, but it’s now really quite shabby, especially the corridors and furnishings. Maybe they will refurbish it soon.

noisy and shabby but good kitchen

I have stayed in this apartment hotel several times but this is the first time in the .new. building. The main problem is that the room opens onto an inner courtyard which seems to magnify noise like an amphitheatre. It only takes one group of tourists to have a late night party in their room with the windows open to disturb everyone. Keepig the windows closed keeps the noise out- and it wasn’t noisy every night. It could be much worse in the summer though. The rooms are clean but the chair was threadbare (material was in shreds!) and on the sofa there were no covers at all- I mean bare foam. The sofa turns into a bed and so you dont have to look at the bare foam as it folds under. The walls and curtains were grubby and shabby. However the kitchenette was well equipped and clean.

Traveller's tip for business travellers

If you want a break from restaurants and eating out then there is a useful supermarket along the round from the hotel where you can buy food, drink and handy items.

Can’t go back

No air conditioning; although non-smoking in the common areas, people can smoke in their rooms which means that all rooms are smelly even if you don’t smoke; horrible service. I would never go back.

Great location

The hotel was more than adequate for our needs. Great little supermarket near by with wide range of patisserie goods. Kitchenette had everything you need, though controls for hotplates not clear how to them use from manual. handy location -5 stops and one very straight forward interchange form Midi station. Can walk to lots of places of interest quite easily.

Will use again, next time I’m in Brussels

Recommended to me by a friend, this self catering hotel is in an ideal location for work and leisure. It is adjacent to St Catherines metro station from where you can get to anywhere in Brussels and is only a five minute walk to the city centre shops and the Grand Place. We had breakfast and the occasional evening meal in, and ate out for the rest of our stay. Brusels is the sea food capital of the world and the St Catherines Square restaurants are at the top of the list. The Citadines is well run by friendly helpful staff. The kitchenettes are well set up with crockery, cutlery and cooking implements and there is a nearby (5 minutes) GB (Carrefour) supermarket. The hotel has free wifi in the lobby and free adsl in every room which is an added atraction. The only down side was that we had to ask for extra pillows.

Traveller's tip on dining

Brusels is the sea food capital of the world and the St Catherines Square restaurants are at the top of the list. Also at the top are the restaurants in the narrow back streets on the north side of the Grand Place. Here you can sometimes get a good deal by asking for the Belgian menu, for locals - same food, lower price.

Great location.

I have stayed at Citadine hotels several times both in Paris and Brussels and think the concept is great. The apartments are particularly well suited to familys. Since my first visit and even since last year I have noticed the accommodation becoming tired and shabby. Although the foyer and breakfast area are well presented, the room we had had a dirty bathroom with mound on the walls and the bed linen had holes in it. St. Catherine Citadine has a great location on the Christmas market and close to shops and restaurants.

Traveller's tip on shopping

Close to main shopping areas and Grand Place. 10 minutes from famous Rue de Bouchers restaurant street

Spacious room but smelly

Well located and spacious rooms with good bathroom, but beds not especially comfortable, bulbs not working, and strong residual cigarette smells in a supposedly no smoking room.

Bed discomfort

The bed could have been a real bed instead of a sofa-cum-bed. There were no Tea/Coffee provided inside the room
