Incredible View
We requested a room one the top floor at the back of the hotel when booking and were duly rewarded with the most incredible views of the mountains from the room balcony. We only stayed one night as a stop off on a road trip but would definitely return to this hotel should we ever get back there for a skiing weekend. Rooms were comfortable, being on the back of the hotel meant that there was no road noise, though there was very little traffic after 10ish anyhow. There was a indoor and outdoor pool and large backgarden for the kids, sunbathing, etc.. Good hotel. Recommended in this price range/location.
Traveller's tip on recreational activities
Les Houches is close enough to Chamonix to catch a free bus to. Just ask for a green card from the hotel reception and make sure you know what time the last bus leaves - usually quite early - as we spent 30 quid on a 2 mile taxi ride! The timetable is limited but generally they run on time.

Freindly and Welcoming
We arrived a little to be told our room wasnt quite ready, but almost without pausing for breath the receptionist found an equlvilant room that was ready and exchanged it for ours. Entering the room we were confronted with a warma nd cosy alpine room, but opening the curtains and going on to the balcony was awesome. The view of Mont Blanc and the Aquile de Midi was really spectacular. We decided to eat in the restaurant the first evening and despite the menu on reception suggesting a number of courses the food was a buffet so it was possible to try everything. We were a bit surprised to find kangaroo in chocolate sauce on the menu in the Alps but the buffet style did allow us to try a small piece. Not really to our taste but an experience none the less. The second night the menu was a little more traditional but still quite good. Breakfast was typical for this part of Europe and set us up for the day. The staff were all helpful and offered friendly advise and help on what to see etc. Would definitely stay here again, and would love to use it in Winter.
There is a bus service from outside the hotel. Ask at reception for a card which gives free bus/train travel in the Chamonix area including Les Houches.

Beautiful view of Mt. Blanc
The view of the Alps was georgous from the balcony, the staff was wonderful and the breakfast delicious. However, the rooms are quite dated and in need of update.
