Fabulous hotel, poor location.
Fabulous hotel, love this hotel. Sao Paulo is so huge, considerably larger than London, to get about to interesting areas such as Paulista, Jardins, Itaim and Pinheiros you cannot walk from this hotel. I did it once and it took me 3 hours to walk to Paulista from here, it costs around 30 reais in a taxi, which think is quite expensive. Sao Paulo is a great city, so many entertainment options. Next time I go I will be staying in a hotel closer to the action, one that wont mean I end up paying a fortune on taxis. For anyone thinking of holidaying in Sao Paulo I would highly recommend it. Just find a more centrally located hotel. If you dont mind splashing out on taxis then stay here, it is a great hotel.
Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks
Sao Paulo is a safe city, I dont care what you have read but it is a safe city to walk around. The only exception would be a place called centro, the old colonial city centre, which is very run down. It is worth a visit but I would only go there during the day, stay clear at night. All other neighbourhoods I would say are very safe. If you can try to walk around as much as possibly to get a flavour of the different neighbourhoods, try to use the metro system and the CPTM.
