Wanted to stay longer!
My partner and I stayed at the House Hotel in Galway for a short mid week break in February. We were impressed by the hotel, the staff, our room and the standard were all high. The Breakfast included in the room rate was lovely and the waiters and waitresses polite and professional. The hotel was in an excellent location for exploring Galway City and we were only sorry we hadnt booked for longer!
We had a really lovely meal at a very pretty restaurant named McSwiggans and would recommend it for a romantic evening.

Does not quite live up to its potential
My first impression of the hotel was very good given its central location (albeit no car park, but discounted parking at nearby multistorey) and the attractive and modern decor of the reception/lounge area. However, when we reached our room (a comfy one) we were disappointed. For the money we had paid it was quite small, the bedroom carpet was wet (for some reason), the shower leaked and there were cobwebs on the light fittings. We asked to change rooms. The receptionist was very apologetic, and we were able to change room, and in fact we were upgraded. This room was much better, as probably the standard of room I was expecting for the price we paid. Breakfast was good. All in all, the hotel is attractively fitted out, the staff are pleasant, but somehow the finishing touches are not quite there for a boutique hotel and as such I dont think for the price we paid it was of sufficient value for money.
