Very Impressed

We stayed 5 nights for a complete chill out break. The hotel was fairly quiet due to the time of year but everthing was open. The pools both indoor and out were well maintained. We only ate breakfast in the hotel which was full buffet with all tastes catered for and very pleasant sitting outside under umbrellas. Out side the hotel within easy walking distance were plenty of restaurants to choose from for evening meals. The hotel also provided a mini bus into Funchal during the day which was very useful. We would certainly go again.

Really impressed and enjoyed out stay

Really lovely hotel and staff very pleasant. Breakfast was great - lovely selection of food. Lots of restaurants within walking distance to hotel which was nice - we made a rule not to eat in the same place twice (except for breakfast!). Room was pleasant - we had a lovely room which overlooked the pool and restaurant area. Was really nice when they had the live entertainment in the evening - we sat on our balcony with a glass of wine and enjoyed lisitening to it. We used the hotel bus to Funchal once - just get there a bit earlier in order to get on it. We walked into the cente of Funchal a couple of times - about a 30 minute walk but enjoyable.

Traveller's tip on local attractions

The tourist buses are good to use - 10 euros for 2 days which is excellent. We used this in the first couple of days which helped us find our way round. Cable car to Monte was great and would definitely recommend. Also really enjoyed the catamaran trip - 3 hour trip and saw whales and dolphins and they also stop and let you swim in the ocean.

Tivoli Madeira is a great hotel!

We stayed at Tivoli Madeira from 27 Sept to 7 Oct and had a lovely holiday. The hotel is very very clean, the bed was huge, we had a lovely sea view. The hotel has more of a business feel to it but this didn’t bother us in the slightest. We found the hotel staff as friendly as they needed to me and helpful. The bar is very quiet but there is so much to do outside of your hotel that we felt no need to even stay in the hotel. We had a massage which was amazing.

Traveller's tip

If you are going to Madeira don’t expect heaving bars or lots of young people as it’s mainly older folk that go there. There are also no beaches but the sea is very clear and lovely to swim in. It still has it’s Portugese charm i.e. there are very few English pubs or ’fry up’ signs. It really is a beautiful island. The weather was gorgeous.
