Peace & Tranquility
Our initial reaction was that we had stumbled upon a totally deserted hotel as it took us almost 25 minutes to find someone to provide some front-office attention. This was, allegedly, created by the fact that we, apparently, arrived 45 minutes after their normal latest check-in time of 6 p.m. about which we had no knowledge. Not a good start and, consequently, we decided to eat out as we felt somewhat uncomfortable especially as there was no-one else to be seen anywhere! The next morning, all was forgiven and we enjoyed a wonderfully fresh and healthy breakfast interspersed with pleasant conversation with the owner. At checkout, he also, very kindly, printed out some directional info for us from the internet so the previous evenings experience faded into obscurity. All in all, a lovely place to stay for a day or two with all the spa treatments on offer as well. The only cons were the ceiling window in our room which awoke us very early (no visible means of shutting out the light) and the apparent absence of air conditioning which might have made life uncomfortable in the hot weather. Plenty of pros to compensate though.
Traveller's tip on dining
Try going into Bodega Bay (its a few miles from the hotel which is in the middle of nowhere but on Hwy 1) for dinner as its a fishing village and the quality of the seafood is fantastic. However, dont leave it late as its a sleepy place.
