Good Experience
The hotel and weather was lovely. ALthough it didnt bother me, several of the adults complained that the place was overloaded with children. If you are looking for an adult time, this is definately a child friendly place especially at the pool. I liked the proximity to the beach. The food was standard all inclusive fare but I did wish that they would offer some plain options or food that was not over run with sauce. The hotel should explain the ramifications of the service that offers exclusivity in some areas. I did have an embarrassing situation when entering the adults only pool area but this was not caused by the hotel staff but rather a rude guest.Their were some complaints that all of the special restaurants were not all open but that was due to the fact that the hotel wasnt fully occupied. The French restaurant, Hermitage was truly terrific. Skip the shopping tour to Cancun. ALthough a great value ($5.00) the places visited are not up to the standards of the American or European shopping habits.Especially the last stop, the Flamingo mall. A stop at the newer mall near the Ritz Carleton would have been better. Playa Del Carmen offers a better shopping experience. We have been in this area several times before and really like it better than places such as Punta cana as you are not confined to the resort and can go other places.
Traveller's tip on shopping
Playa Del Carmen offers a better shopping experience(although only one street) than the tired stores in Cancun. Many of the older malls are half empty.

3rd time in 2 yrs and still a great time
We went the 2nd week of july. The hotel staff were really eager to please and friendly.we had a air conditioner problem but it was fixed in less than 30 mins.Occupancy was at 25 to 30% so they only had a couple restaurants open per night.food is very good. The bar and restaurant staff do a wonderful job.will go back again.

Excellent
We were there during the swine flu media hype and occupancy was around 30%. Pools and beach to ourselves, as this gorgeous resort was a virtual ghost down. The down side to low occupancy was that of the 5 restaurants the resort has they would only open one per evening and if you did not set your alarm clock for 7:30 AM to reserve a table, the restaurant would be all booked up and you would have to eat at the buffet which was also very good. Food was always hot fresh and delicious, with ample variety. Also, there was no nightly entertainment. Friendly staff, beautiful grounds and great service made up for these few inconveniences and we will definitely stay here again.
