Great location
We enjoyed our stay at the Merlin Guesthouse but with a few reservations. The location was great....close to the action but not TOO close. The gardens surrounding the hotel were lovely. The spa was nice but was not too refreshing with the water temperature in the 90s on days that were also in the 90s. We found out half way through our stay that we COULD have used the pool facilities at their other locations but were not told that when we checked in. No closets in the room was also an inconvenience. All in all though, we enjoyed our stay at this location; for the price, it was a good deal.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
If you are looking for a nice beach in Key West, forget about it. Just off shore, the beaches are covered with rocks; sharp and slippery!! Also, lots of seaweed, too. Bring your water shoes!!!

Will certainly return
An excellent hotel, walkable to all the old town sites, nice staff, lovely room, continental breakfast by the pool. Note that its a large spa pool, so not big enough to swim. Good restaurants within 3 or 4 blocks walk.
