Seaside room
Stayed in room 109 with private balcony overlooking the sea lapping the rocks in late Sept 08. Ultra convenient for dive shop below. Substantial breakfasts, hotel food good but not gourmet. Staff very helpful.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Good supermarket and Italian restaurant opposite. Buy bus card in local wine shop, cheaper than on bus. Go to Monte on bus 0.85 Euro, rather than organised trip. Frequent buses to Funchal town, 7-10 mins. Nice 2km walk along promenade to west. Beware Time Share Touters everywhere!

good hotel, friendly and helpful staff.
Nicely located just outside of Funchal 15minute taxi ride only 5 euros although the hotel will arrenge taxi transfers into town at no cost to visitor. Room 103 where we stayed was a bit noisey during the day due to the dive club being located just below this room. However the only time this disturbed us when they had a night dive and voices were raised. On the whole a good hotel.
Traveller's tip on shopping
The hotel is located well for local shops and just across the road from a well equiped supermarket. There is also a good selection of restaurants and cafes. Buses stop just at the top of the road. The Hotel is located close to the Lido where there is plenty of child friendly activities.
