You’re paying for the location.
This hotel is properly situated near all of the major sights in Florence and a little less than a kilometer from the Santa Maria train station. The hotel staff was fine, and the room was clean. The amenities in the room are minimal. If you need a bed and a bathroom, since you expect to spend the rest of your time exploring Firenze, then you should be fine. This may be a deal-breaker for some, but do not expect a conventional American shower facility. My bathroom shower was just a shower head that stuck out of the wall with make-shift curtain. This type of shower is common in some hotels in Europe, but it may be unusual if it is your first time seeing one.

Perfect Price Perfect Location
The location is perfect. It was my first time in Florence and everything was on my doorstep.Dont expect the Ritz but if your looking for a basic,clean and tidy hotel this is it.The only complaint I have is its noisy! Not from outside but internal noise,doors banging,taps turning on,the lift ect so if your a light sleeper which to be fair I am it could prove a problem. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly and had no problem looking after my luggage for a day even though I had checked out. For the price you cant beat it and being in the location it is I would have expected it to cost a lot more. Im heading back next month and Im sure I’ll be staying in the Olimpia.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Get up at 5am and take a walk through the Piazzas before everyone wakes up.Use the local supermarkets,watch out for beer prices in some Piazzas-I paid Euro 9 for a pint in a bar (sipped it for an hour),WATCH OUT for pickpockets on Ponte Vecchio I was nearly done,they come up to you with a map asking directions!! Get up early for Uffizi,Pitti Palace is a must see.Sit back and listen to the street musicians.Throw your map away and walk....
