Avoid !

We recently spent 4 nights in the Club Hotel in Mestre, I’d like to start with a plus point; the shower was ok, that’s it ! The room was small and the air conditioning didn’t work. There is no fridge in the rooms despite what the ad’s say. There was no form of internet access contrary to what is advertised. The bed sheets were not changed during our stay. Curtains and shelves were dusty. No privacy with the curtains open due to the flats about 4 meters away from our window. The bathroom hairdryer resembled a 1950’s hoover attachment and had one setting, ultra hot. Breakfast consisted of a coffee, some powdered fruit drink a slice of salami and a slice of cheese, completely inadequate. Venice is an amazing city but don’t bother with the club hotel.

Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks

Avoid the taxis to and from the airport, they cost 30+ euros each way in and out of Mestre. The buses are reliable and clean and cost 1 euro. There is a bus stop directly outside the Club Hotel and a friendly English speaking guy in shop next door (Tabachii) who was very helpful.

Ok as a base for visiting Venice

We stayed here as a base to visit Venice and was fine for that. The Hotel could do with updating and the rooms are basic, again could do with updating. Breakfast was adequate. On the plus side there is a bus stop right outside the hotel for you to catch to go to Venice - they go every 30 minutes and take about 20 minutes to get there.

very good hotel for short stay.

we went to this hotel for 4 nights, the only problem was, when we reached there about 4pm.the man on the desk spoke no english but understood everything i said and booked us in and was very helpful. The best way to see VENICE is to buy a Venice Connected pass before you go.Get the pass PNR online and when you reach Venice get the actual pass from the airport office of venice connected. This pass is very good value for money. you can use this pass on any ACTV local buses and all ACTV boats. We travelled to all the venice islands and MESTRE buses. You cannot use this pass on ATVO buses. The 3 day pass cost us about 23 pounds for 3 days. This you can easily spend in 1 day if travel and use different boats and buses. The man in TABBACHI shop near the hotel is very good and very helpful. The LIDL shop is very handy, we used it everyday.
