Ok for the price
The hotel isnt surrounded by anything worth walking to but its not too far from centre of Birmingham, a taxi cost around 7 pounds. The room itself needs a lick of paint and the shower curtain smelt, the bed was ok apart from it being on wheels! If you looking for somewhere cheap for one night then its fine and there is free parking!

No Nonsence Hotel
Although I have stayed at Campanile hotels before, this is the first time at this particular one. This is a highly functional hotel for either business or leisure visits.Close to the centre of Birmingham you can walk but maybe easier to take a taxi. The staff are efficient and pleasant. The restaurant is busy and the food is a high quality. The service staff on my visit were from France and I noticed many guests were not from UK making this a cosmpolitain experienced indeed !! The hotel is next to the canal lock system which could be pleasant on a warm evening. I would recommend a stay in this hotel as exploring Birmingham or attending conferences is easy from this location.
If you like Indian food Birmingham is the place to be ! Without doubt the best Indian dining can be found at Marharaja in Hurst Street close to The Birmingham Hippodrome Theater and the Arcadian Chinese Quarter (also full of Asian eating places)

Enjoyable stay
I picked hotel on internet thinking that it was nearer the NIA than it realy was - my fault. In fact it was a pleasant evening and we walked along the canal to the city centre - about 20-25 minutes. Would not want to 2 walk in dark - lots of white cider bottles floating in the cut! Only £7 to come back after the show by taxi. Free, secure parking at hotel which was bonus. Being out of town made for a peaceful nights sleep. Comfortable bed, adequate bathroom with shower and tea and coffee making facilities. Good value stay.
Wouldnt walk alone but short walk to bottom of Broad street, NIA, Symphony Hall, Rep, Sea Life etc and a little further to main shopping area, New Street etc. I am sure that hotel staff would have told us the number for bus service. On several bus routes.
