was nice for one night away from home
My husband and I arrived at the Old Golf House Corus Hotel on a Saturday evening. The receptionist was lovely and very helpful by telling us about breakfast times, even though breakfast wasn’t included she gave us 2 vouchers with money off, the lady also gave us a telephone number for a local taxi firm (as we were going into Huddersfield for a 30th Birthday party). The hotel room was very big with a TV and coffee/tea making facilities. However the downfall was that the bedroom furniture was dusty and the floor looked like it only had a quick hoover! It was ok for a night away. We enjoyed our stay and would go back again as long as they have reviewed their cleaning methods.
Huddersfield town centre is only a couple of miles away and there is entertainment facilities just outside the town centre with a cinema, bars and Pizza Hut on the complex.

SEE IF THERE IS A WEDDING BOOKED
From the outside this really is a nice hotel -the gardens and setting are lovely -the entrance is lovely -infact the staff themselves are wonderful---now the except ---dont go there if there is a wedding on -its obvious that this hotel is geared to the wedding scene and not repeat buisness- ie the bar was open but because there was so many guests for the wedding the bar was packed -the few residents tables were pushed into a corner and it just wasnt nice -Iwaited 15 minutes for a drink and then gave up!!!-on arrival to my room -basic but clean -I was welcomed to the wedding disco starting up directly below me --dont if your a light sleeper stay in room 44 --all you can hear is boom boom boom -I paid for a hotel room -not a disco!but the good news is it finishes at 1.00-other comments -theres NO-insulation in the walls so you can hear every reveller stumbling back and forth from the rooms -and they may need a new carpet in the corridors -I saw at least 8 lines of black duck tape holding the carpet together---nice--also the state of the wallpaper in my room had a lot to be desired--polyfilla seems prevelant-do yourself a favour -if its a romantic weekend away -dont go cheap -Im certain for a few pounds more in Huddersfield theres better-also if your not in a wedding -forget it -they really arent interested

Traffic Noise
Hotel is on top of M62 but with the double glazing and windows shut you dont hear anything.. but it was very hot when i wa s there and the noise of the road was tremendous, otherwise staff eager to please and comfortably different from the bigger chains of hotels i tend to use. BIG rooms and big bathrooms a positive
