Avoid
I spent over a week travelling around switzerland, northern italy and southern france. Every night I stayed in ’budget’ hotels so it is not that I have too high expectations. I had an attic room - it was extremely hot, there was no air con (there was an electric fan). The blankets and sheets on the bed looked clean enough but the cover and cushions (not pillows) looked unclean. The girl on reception was very pleasant but the hotel was dark and dingy and breakfast was a massive 9 euros - I didn’t have it but looked in to see what was on offer - a pretty poor selection given the cost (and much less than on offer at some other places I stayed at). Chambery itself has a strange, slightly intimidating atmosphere about it in the late afternoon/ evening time. I would definitely NOT recommend staying either in Chambery or at this hotel.
