A five star hotel with a sense of intimacy
I enjoyed my stay very much. As I often spend a few nights in Bangkok I can compare this hotel with several others of the same standard. The Peninsula although a big hotel gave you a sense of intimacy. All the rooms have river views which is great and my room had double sinks in the bathroom which is a bonus. I had dinner in the Chinese restaurant which was very good and also Thai dinner on the terrace overlooking the river. The food and service excellent. The small bar is just by the river so very nice to sit in comfortable chairs and watch the boats. My only complaint was the the gym was too small and did not have the equipment you would expect in such a prestigious hotel. The gym did not compare with the facilities at the Oriental and Shangri-La. The hotel is of course situated on the other side of the river so you always need to take the small hotel shuttle ferry to get across to the main part of Bankok and to reach the sky train. This was not a problem though as the ferry was so frequent up to midnight. I will be happy to stay at the Peninsula again.
There are several excellent restaurants at State Tower with views all over Bangkok. It is very expensive though but worth it! Only 10 mins walk from the other side of the river.

A luxurious hotel
A cool, calm haven after the hustle and bustle of Bangkok. Attention to detail is superb, and nothing is too much trouble. Highly recomended!
