Best hotel bargain in town

Not fancy, but a clean, comfortable, well maintained hotel away from the hustle and bustle, with easy beach access. Very quiet. Price can’t be beat.

The Reef restaurant, just up the road, is excellent, and their specials are very reasonably priced.

Decent

I got what I paid for: a reasonable hotel room, clean, decent. Staff were apathetic, check out was smooth. The A/C smelled a bit dusty, but blew cold. If all you need is a place to stay then I recommend this hotel.

Two Star rating is too high

Well worn and needs a lot of maintennance. Staff unfriendly and poor housekeeping. Complimentary breakfast was poor, and handled by the staff, Literally! We saw them serve food with bare hands without washing or using serving gloves. Best thing about hotel, close to beach and not crowded. Poll was nice.

Absolutely ready to go back!!!

I had an awesome stay at this hotel. The room was nice and clean. It was conviently located just across the street from the beach. There were very few other peoople on the beach which was very refreshing and relaxing. I will difinately stay at the same hotel the next time I am in St. Augusting!!

the hotel is very cute and its literally right across the street from the beach,and the staff is very nice.

Great room for the price!

The hotel was older, but our room was very comfortable and clean. THe staff was very nice and helpful when we asked for recomendations. We loved the close proximity to the beach, and even though we were there on a weekend and during the summer, the beach was never crowded. We had a wonderful stay and would book another stay if we are ever in the area again!

needs improvement

The first hour I was there I had to search for a remote control for the t.v. with the manager room to room till finally he pulled a new one out of the closet and then I had to go up and program it to work. It could be a nice little hotel with some better management and attention to details. Expand the dining area!!!

Only good thing was the location

People were not friendly...Bottom sheet would not stay on mattress....asked to have different one put on but nothing happened....never vacummed. One morning, owner woke up late so no breakfast.... Would not go back

we frequent this motel often

We stay at ocean sands every time we go to st. augustine. it is a small motel but comfortable, no huge crowds or noise. nice pool, friendly staff. the beach location is the greatest amenity to us. walk out the door and right across the street.

Good room for the money.

Hotel is older, but was clean. Breakfast wasn’t over the top, but they always had continental breakfast choices, and would refill them upon request. Microwave and fridge were nice to have in the room. AC was loud, but it blocked out a lot of noise from neighbors. AC was also nice and cold after a hot day. We were glad we chose the Non-Ocean view room on the first floor. Easy access to parking lot and the pool. Great proximity to the Ocean and St. Augustine. We had a great time.

Ocean Sands Beach Inn: Hidden Gem!

We stayed at Ocean Sands Beach Inn north of St. Augustine at Villano Beach. The hotel was right across the street from a beach that was undeveloped and somewhat private. We saw a North Atlantic Right Whale and found fossils on the beach. Magic! The hotel was kept clean. Kathryn, our maid did a great job cleaning up our sand and we left her a decent tip. The breakfast was not that great but the room had a fridge, freezer, and mini kitchen area. The Winn Dixie nearby sold us everything we needed to supplement the coffee and donuts. Overall, the price was great for location and if you’re not super picky and just want to spend time on the beach, go for it!

Great view

We had a view of the Inter Coastal Waterway so had a sunset view. Room was clean. A few maintenance problems (table and chair needing repair, loud A/C). Room had fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Breakfast downstairs, were allowed to take upstairs to our room. Beach was across the street with their own access. A lot of people were using the pool. Would recommend.

A great time

We had a great time at the Ocean Sands Beach Inn. It had a great location and was a perfect little beach inn! We wished we could have stayed longer!

Great Value

While i am used to staying in high quality chain hotels we decided to take a gamble this time and it payed off, while the hotel itself is aged and the breakfast is not the greatest the location and setting is outstanding. It is quiet and almost an oasis from a busy life.

it was ok

the room was nice and clean. but they put us in the room directly over the office,and all these light were shining up on our balcony from the office. so if you want a little privacy dont get room 202. and the owner was an indian guy. when we were checking out he asked my brother why wasnt he married, why he didnt have any kids??? strange..

VERY NICE EXPERIENCE

The hotel was clean and well maintained. The location was ideal, across the street was a beautiful private beach, no crowds, just beautiful homes. Approximately 15 minutes to get to the historical district of St. Augustine. Very easy drive to the historical district. Would we stay here again? Absolutely!

Great hotel for the price

Nice hotel right across the street from the beach. Not luxurious, but very comfortable and clean for the price. Very short drive to get to shops and attractions. Hotel staff was very nice. I would definitely stay here again.

Good for the money

This is a cozy hotel with friendly personel. The front desk person was very polite and helpful. The breakfast was ok if you did not want to get up early to go some place for breakfast. The room was very clean, facing the parking lot, but very good for the money. I would recommend or go back to this hotel myself.

It was what I expected.

I liked the ocean beach - but note that it is across the street, not directly on the beach. The people were nice, and the room was clean. I wasn’t very fond of the complementary breakfast. There were no plates was among the worst of the problems. Overall, I was very satisfied. It was what I expected.

LOCATION

was somewhat out of the way. For example to far to walk to town. But on the other hand it was right across the street from the ocean with a private beach access for hotel guests. Had friendly staff and the guests were all happy and friendly also. Motel also had a pool.

Clean, Quiet, and Away from the Crowd

Although it’s a very small and a few years old, Ocean Sands is very well maintained. Cleanliness is definitely a goal they accomplish well. Beach access make this hotel a crown jewel, sharing their own ocean sands with none other than local residents and guests. The nearest public access is about a mile and we didn’t see any other hotels anywhere nearby, you get to enjoy the beach without the crowd.

You get what you pay for...

The location of this hotel is perfect. The beach across the street was the highlight of our trip. It is great for walking and beachcombing and is totally uncrowded. It’s location is only a short ride into St. Augustine. Our room was not vacuumed once during our 6 night stay and our bedding was changed once the night before we left. The breakfast isn’t fancy but was a good amenity. The grounds are well kept.

Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks

St. Augustine was a lovely and historical place to visit. We found some very good restaurants during our stay. It is an easy area to drive around. The beaches are beautiful. The parking is a pain. The meter maids seem to be lurking in the shadows as soon as the meter expires. The meters should offer more than a 2 hour limit.and maybe some "grace" period. It did not feel very welcoming to get a $15 ticket after a 10 minute expiration!!

Nice for the money

Our stay at Ocean Sands Beach Inn was very nice. We would have appreciated an elevator to help us carry our luggage upstairs, though. The building is a bit older, but is kept up well. The pool is small and was not cleaned out often enough. The location of the hotel was, great, right across the street from the beach with very easy access. We plan to go back next spring break!
