Would definitely go back

Saw a mixed bag of reviews before we left, but we enjoyed ourselves so much I can’t imagine what levels of luxury or impossible standards one or two moaning reviewers have! Hotel is four star even by european standards. Room impeccable and cleaned thoroughly and punctually every day. All costs are good value by European standards but expensive by Egyptian standards. Taxi to Giza was quoted as 150 Egyptian pounds one way from hotel reception and 60 when we walked to just outside the hotel gate and found a great guy called Mahmoud, who we used every day until we left to drive us! Hotel situated on American-style boulevard, so if you want to eat other than at the hotel you’ll have to get a cab. Good choice of restos and room service in hotel. Breakfast buffet fab with everything from pancakes to cereal to hot cooked to Egyptian goodies. So plentiful we ate breakfast and then nothing until dinner! Big pool complex, gym and a bar. Standards of service very high and they take a pride in it. Would recommend.

Cairo Visit

My husband and I just recently returned from Cairo and stayed 4 nights at MOevnpick. Great hotel for the price, you feel safe, the people are very nice, great pool for relaxing, was glad they had a television and a couple movie channels in English. The food is terrible... I am not a picky eater but it was very difficult for me to find anything on the menu/buffet that was satisfying. The resort is VERY far from the airport and a distance from downtown, but I liked that is was very clean and far away from the craziness of downtown Cairo.

Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks

Do not use the hotel transportation, try to get something on your own, they will double the charge if you use the conceirge. Also, buy bottled water/soda at a market and bring back to the resort so you do not get overcharged. My suggestion to those visiting Cairo is not to stay for more than 3 or 4 days, not much to do as a tourist besides Pyramids and Egyptian Museum. Traffic is crazy in Cairo, so give yourself at least 3 hours to get to the airport from Moevenpick.

A lovely resort hotel with wonderful service

I was in Cairo for business, and I stayed at this hotel because it was near my client’s place.I wasn’t expecting much, as I had read some mediocre reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised: the room was large and spacious, the facilities were beautiful, the food was terrific, and the service was great. Even the food from room service was hot and tasty, and it arrived promptly. Our room had a balcony overlooking the pool and the extensive gardens. The room was nicely furnished, with a good-sized desk for my work. There’s a lot of dust in this area because of the dryness, so the room was a bit dusty, but the bathroom sparkled. The breakfast buffet had a huge number of choices, plus a chef who cooked omelettes to order. It was fun to look through the huge glass windows and watch the chefs prepare the baked goods from scratch. Drawbacks: the hotel is on the outskirts of Cairo, so it takes about 45 minutes to get to the city; on the other hand, it’s nice to get away from the confusion of Cairo. Also, the in-room internet charges are a rip-off, and there’s no free WiFi anywhere on the property. This is a wonderful place for relaxing--and even for working!

Traveller's tip for business travellers

Use your Blackberry for e-mails and skip the in-room connection, which is very overpriced.
