ideal location and good value for money
Hotel was in good location on edge of tourist area, but quiet. we had a large room, very comfortable, and good facilities. Made it a pleasant stop in Cairns for 6 days.
Traveller's tip on local attractions
there are a lot of great scenic places to visit and explore in vicinity of Cairns, if you have a car, without following the traditional tourist routes.

Location the best feature
From the reviews I read before, I expected a superior Holiday Inn. I thought the rooms and amenities were okay, but not superior. Room was clean but small and oddly shaped. Common areas were not so clean, and the laundry (one washer and dryer per floor) with ancient machines (loud, not kind to clothes) and in the same room as the garbage (so smelly). It feels very much like a place people sleep after going to the beach/the rainforest/the reef each day, bringing their sand and their dirty laundry back with them.

Pretty and in great location
Nice setting, clean, open plan - most rooms with a view of the estuary which was muddy even at high tide. Good sized rooms, - get the breakfast option - it keeps you going for longer - wont need an expensive lunch before dinner. Pool is okay. Most everythign is walkable from this hotel including St. Monicas Catholic church across the street.
Traveller's tip on dining
Try the night market stalls for dining - its the cheapest deal in town and made me feel like we were in Thailand or some other large asian city rather than in Australia. If youre going diving or snorkelling stick with the smaller outfits.
